Those were very dangerous times in the colonial New World. If you have read Drums of Autumn, it was a wonder that Jamie and Claire even got away to make a life of their own. I have read the Book of Negroes, a very horrifying but true account of slavery in the colonies and Episode 2 of Season 4 is probably right on the mark. I know Jamie and Claire are fictional but believe it or not, I was actually looking for them in the Book of Negroes, because they landed just at the same time. That is how authentic Diana Gabaldon’s book was.
