From The Examiner:

Outlander stars Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe and Tobias Menzies attended the second season world premiere on Monday, April 4 at the American Museum of Natural History. Some superfans also won international contests to travel from New Zealand and Canada to attend the special event. Guests flocked to the afterparty in the same venue following the screening.Diana Gabaldon’s eight-book series has sold more than 20 million copies and has graced the New York Times Best Sellers list six times. The “Outlander” series spans the genres of romance, science fiction, history, and adventure in one grandiose tale. It follows the story of Claire Randall, a married combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743, where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world where her life is threatened. When she is forced to marry Jamie Fraser, a chivalrous and romantic young Scottish warrior, a passionate affair is ignited that tears Claire’s heart between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.

More after the jump!

The first season ends when Claire is reunited with Jamie and learns that she is pregnant with his child. The second season continues to tell the tale about Claire’s journey through time. She continues a battle to determine her fate, while her loyalties are torn between the two men that she loves. We spoke to the stars about their roles in the hit series and their upcoming projects. Caitrona Balfe looked ladylike in a Delpozo gown and Nicholas Kirkwood heels on the red carpet.

In the season, how do we see you? You and Jamie left on uneven footing. How do we see the characters change in the first episode once they have landed in Paris?

Catriona Balfe: Once they arrive in Paris. They are full of hope…like this may be a chance for a new beginning, But Jamie is still reeling from the events at the end of Season 1. He is still struggling with all of that. So they are sort of trying to make things better, but they are still quite separate from each other. There is still a lot of distance there. In a way Claire gives Jamie this mission to go change the course of history as something to maybe take his mind off of what he is going through emotionally. And that leaves her in a position where she is kind of dealing with this pregnancy on her own. So in some ways it is kind of a lonely start for Claire. She is in a new place and doesn’t know anyone. But as we progress then you see that she finds some new friends. She finds a place where she can really have an outlet.
