Here is a new interview with Ron D. Moore from The Wall Street Journal

From The Wall Street Journal:
For most of the second season of “Outlander,” the narrative followed a relatively linear trajectory: 18th-century power couple Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) fought against tremendous odds – ineffectual royals, vengeful French aristocrats – to change the future and thwart the Scottish-culture-destroying Battle of Culloden. However, the romantic time-traveling series made up for the lack of the hot Scot tonight by keeping the story line to the 18th century, which meant viewers had a real opportunity to delve into the Highlander’s ongoing trauma. As suspected, Jamie – played by Scottish actor Sam Heughan – has a long way to go in his recovery from last season’s torture at the hands of Black Jack Randall (Tobias Menzies).
