CASTING NEWS: Gary Young and Charlie Hiett to play Mr. Willoughby and Captain Thomas Leonard
From EW
Starz announced today that Gary Young will play the beloved character of Mr. Willoughby in the new season of Outlander. As first depicted in Diana Gabaldon’s bestselling book series, Mr. Willoughby is a Chinese man with a deep knowledge of Eastern medicine and a talented poet, to boot. He becomes a confidante of Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan).
The premium network announced one more addition to Outlander’s cast today: Charlie Hiett will pay British Captain Thomas Leonard, the inexperienced captain of the Artemis that takes Sam and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) on their Caribbean voyage.
Young, who is from New Zealand, most recently appeared in the Netflix feature Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny and the Australian miniseries Secret City. Hiett’s credits include playing William Kent in The Suspicions of Mr. Whicher on ITV.
Outlander casts key characters Geneva and Isobel Dunsany
From E!
Outlander has found its Dunsany sisters. E! News has learned Hannah James has been cast as Geneva Dunsany and Tanya Reynolds will play Isobel Dunsany in the third season of the hit Starz drama.
Book fans will recall Geneva, the eldest, is “as beautiful as she is headstrong,” and spoiled and demanding. She’s used to getting exactly what she wants, but underneath that petulant exterior she’s vulnerable due to her sheltered life. James recently appeared as Emma Green in Mercy Street.
