Checking In On All of You – How’s Everyone Doing? We Know Things Are Hard for Many Right Now   19 comments

Hello everyone,

How are you guys doing? We know life is hard right now with COVID-19. We want you guys to know we’re here for you guys during these hard times. How have you guys been? What’s going on in your life? What’s keeping you distracted? We’d love to hear from you guys.

Maybe we can share ideas of what keeps us distracted. Personally I’ve been reading a lot of books, cooking, trying not to overwhelm myself with news (which is really easy to do sometimes. I try to focus on my family and I.

What are you guys doing to keep busy? How are your families doing?

Much love and stay healthy,

Marie

  2. Here in Ct we are living in the woods so social isolation is inevitable but getting pretty old after six or seven weeks. There is just two of us and four dogs. My spouse is not a conversationalist as his Parkinson’s Disease affects his voice.I live vicariously through your posts and was happy to support the continuation of the website. Keep up the good work.

    • Hi Teresa, I hear you on the 6-7 weeks getting old. I’m so sorry your spouse and you have to deal with that. Thank you for the supporting the site and we’re glad we can help in some way.

  3. Thank you for your lovely note. My husband and I were in Naples, Florida when Covid 19 exploded in the USA. We ended up staying an extra month, fearful to travel. If you have to be stuck somewhere, it is not a bad place to be stuck. We were able to take 1-2 walks a day. We spent most the day on our lanai which faced the green of a golf course. People are still golfing. It was interesting to see more couples and multi-generational families golfing. While watching the golfers, we read, played cards, did word games and my husband worked on writing his novel. We finally braved the trip home a week ago. It was terrifying, but went rather smoothly. I brought all our food and drink. So we didn’t need to stop.for food. Our only stops were for gas and restrooms. I would head to the rest rooms w/ Clorax wipes in one hand and TP wipes in the other. The only places we were required to wear masks were in NJ at the Turnpike rest stops. We did have to stay overnight at one hotel. It was all but empty. We were on the main floor so we didn’t have to use the elevator. When we pulled in our driveway we were met by several neighbors to welcome us home. We all practiced social distancing. Now we have one more week to see if any Covid 19 germs hitched a ride. It is so strange to be back home and see how things have changed. I feel like I’m in the midst of a SYFY film. I totally understand why Sam has stayed put. I hope you are all safe and well.

    • Hi Nancy,

Glad you and your husband are well. Sounds like quite the trip. It must have been scary to do it. I’m glad you both are home and that you made the most of it in Florida. It really does feel like we’re in a SYFY film. I wish we’d wake up and it would all be over. Never thought I’d live through this in my lifetime…

  4. Feeling quite-isolated as am on my own but coping. Am continuing with my hobbies so not all bad. I’m rereading outlander series and have almost finished The Fiery Cross. Always find something I missed before. The next book can’t come quick enough. I am starting chemo at the end of the month and am worried about going out to the hospital. Think I’ll wear a mask. Keep safe everybody. We’re not out of the woods yet.

    • Hello Jen; My thoughts and prayers are with you – hopefully your chemo will be a success. Hospitals are scary at any time. Yes, definitely wear a mask. Carry hand sanitizer with you. And if possible, keep as far as you can from the next patient. Isn’t it sad that we all have to be taking these precautions – but keep safe. Wishing you the best results through your chemo.

    • Hi Jen, We’re always here for you if you need to chat. Isolation can be very, very hard. Glad you’re keeping busy with your hobbies. We are not out of the woods yet. I do believe that the chemo area will be very well checked and guarded. I hope you get better soon. My thoughts are with you.

  5. Thank you for thinking of your devoted followers and fans. Distraction here? – Spring Cleaning, and raking leaves in the garden. I miss my grandson, Owen, very much, but this past Sunday, May 3, he and his Mom and Dad paid an unexpected visit. My husband and I stood on our deck and they stood out in the middle of the back yards (Social distancing), but it really made my day better. I am cutting back on watching all the Covid-19 news – jut keeping track of the updates on it – as I found it all overwhelming at first. And, of course I am watching my most favourite show “Outlander” Season 5. Absolutely love it, I am rereading all the Outlander books 1 – 8 again. It is amazing what you find that you missed the first time – I hear that is a sign that the author has given us a real treasure to be cherished. Again, thank you for thinking of us all and I hope that you and your family keep safe as well.

    • I’ve cut back on watching the news alot as well. It helps. I’m glad you did manage to see your grandson. The books are so packed with information, you find something new every time you re-read them. I’m glad you and your family are doing well.

  6. Marie,
May I ask what you are reading? I just finished the Into The Wilderness series. I enjoyed it, and now I’m looking for something else. I started Seven Stones to Stand or Fall again but would like something new.

    • Sure! I have a trilogy of books that I absolutely love and that is similar (historical, romance, action, drama) as Outlander. Have you read The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons? It’s sooooo good. Everyone I’ve recommended these books to have fallen in love with them. There are three books: The Bronze Horseman, Tatiana & Alexandre and The Summer Garden. Let me know if you decide to read them!

  7. Have you tried Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet or the River God series by Wilbur Smith. Both great reads.
Thank you for your kind comments it really helps.

    • I haven’t yet. I do have that book here. I’ve read The Century trilogy by Ken Follett which I loved. I haven’t heard about the other series. I’ll check it out. Thank you. I do tend to switch back and forth in genres. I’m in a light book reading mood. So I’ve been reading a lot of romance novels lately.

  8. My husband and I tidying up the flat, cooking, reading some books and I try not to be annoyed.

  9. Here in Spain the last 70 days hace been hard for us,now we are starting to see the light,
