*Please Read* We are taking a short break – Don’t forget to tell those close to you, that you love them   31 comments

Hi all,

We’re taking a short break, we’ve tweeted about it, but we know not all our followers on Twitter. We need a short break, but we will be back soon. We just have a lot going on right now. As we mentioned on Twitter both Paige and I are dealing with some stuff. We don’t want you guys to think we’re abandoning you, because we aren’t.

My best-friend’s dad was diagnosed with stage 4 liver and lung cancer last Friday. It came out of the blue. They didn’t know he was sick. They all found out last Friday. He was given between 1-3 weeks to live, so I’m spending time with her and her family. He’s chosen to die on Monday. So they only have a few days left with him. My dad has cancer as well and I’ve been dealing with health issues as some of you know. So all of this is very hard to handle at the same time on top of the website. Please keep my best-friend and her family in your thoughts. They have a tough road ahead of them.

Remember to tell those close to you how much you love them, because you can never really know how much time you have left with them.

Thank you all for the incredible amount of support you’ve given us on Twitter.

Lots of love,

Marie & Paige

  1. Take care of you and yours. We’ll be here when you return.

  2. Sorry you all are going through this…pending loss is never, ever easy. In fact, people tend to get angry and either start blaming or trying to make deals for just a little more time….neither works and I know from experience from when I lost my Mom. Pray and Please stay strong during these hard and painful times. I know people always say these things, and hopefully they’ll help. Just remember that family and support are everything and it will will help be remembered, especially how much each and everyone of them is loved and always has been. Just make sure they KNOW that.

  3. Hang onto each other..

  28. Please accept my heartfelt sadness. I can’t imagine how much it hurts to find out your loved one only has weeks or days to be with you on earth. 16 years ago my father developed cancer. What a shock! It was right after 911 and nobody was flying very much. My daughter and I flew from Ohio to Melbourne Florida and chose any seat we wanted. I wasn’t afraid I had to get to my daddy, God help anyone who tried to stop us. He was given 3 months to live. This was September 2001. Went with him to his appointment the next day. That what he was told. I wanted to scream and cry but couldn’t. We stayed 2 weeks. During that time I stayed up with him at night and my daughter was with him and her grandma during the day while I got a bit of sleep. My wonderful sister ( she’s third child of 6) and moms youngest sister (who is a retired R.N. Moved into to help mom who had 3 alarm clocks set to remind her for dads medication times. She was exhausted. Both my sister and Aunt lived in South Florida and both are married to the most understanding and generous men ever. Sister had 3 teenage boys. Hubby completely took over the everyday care and household. Friend would watch the family pets so he could bring the boys up to Melbourne to be with their grandparents. Aunties hubby came during the week to help and just give needed support. My brothers would come as much as possible. Just enjoy if that’s a proper word the time left. Daddy and I watched his favorite movies during the night. We flew back to Ohio. I had to accumulate more personal and vacation time. What my daughter didn’t realize at the time when she went down with me was she was expecting my parents first great grandchild. My husband and I drive down the first week of November. That’s when daddy found out about the new baby coming. He was so excited. He’s always loved children and this seemed to brighten his day. He wanted to sit and sleep in his recliner only and in the middle of the living room. He wanted to still be included in everything. Hospice brought in needed items. A hospital bed for one. He didn’t want it. So mom slept in it next to him. It helped they had a huge living room. He often called for my aunts help being a nurse she knew how to do things and he knew mom was mentally and physically exhausted. He wanted to rest. While there in November. My sister and aunt took time to go to their homes to take care of things and a little break. I and my husband and youngest brother was with our parents another brother lived 10 miles away and he and his wife also helped with yard work, grocery shopping and cleaning. Doing things that needed done. While there we were staying in the guest room when sister and auntie were gone. I’ll never forget forget this but early on a Wednesday morning about 2am I woke up to what felt like my nose being pinched shut. I was sleeping on the daybed and hubby was on the pull out trundle. The room had a small ceiling fan and being cool enough we had the windows open. I opened my eyes looking at the ceiling and saw what looked like a white cloud moving in and out and around the fan and room. I watched it for a long while. It was beautiful! Then it just went out of the open window! I wanted to wake my husband butvbeing he wore a CPAP MACHINE. I didn’t want to startle him and scare off what we later called Dads Angel. Sister and Auntie came back for the weekend and while we were in our brothers bedroom I told them I had something I needed to share with them. I told them what I experienced and physically saw. They told me they to witnessed the same while sleeping in that room. My parents came into the room and I snapped a photo of an intimate moment and when developed it also had that white cloud surrounding them! All of my siblings and their children came up. We took photos and again in a few of them you could see dads Angel. Hubby and I went home. And came back in early February. Bringing our pregnant daughter with us. So dad could see her growing belly which was cuddling a son who would have his great grandfathers first name as his middle name. Dad laid his hand on her belly then kissed the belly with tears in his eyes! He had the greatest Hospice people ever. They were so kind and loving to him and our family. Dad did pass the projected 3 months to live. He had so much company. And not once did he ever complain. We would pray with him and if my Aunt walked past him doing a chore or some he asked her to pray with him. She sat next to him and prayed. The priest from the parish they belonged to stopped in often to visit and pray. Neighbors brought in food. It was time for us to travel back to Ohio. I called everyday. Sometimes he’d talk or listen. Stopped eating and for awhile wanted just Bryers Strawberry Ice Cream. We knew it wouldn’t be long. He was fading fast. His youngest child had a Birthday on April 7 they had a small gathering with cake and ice cream. The next morning daddy went to heaven. Mom said he hung on to get past the birthday. My other brother and wife came as soon as they could. Brother gave our dad 6 sweet kisses on the cheek for each of dads 6 children. They called my husband who called me at work and told me daddy was in heaven, I just got quiet and didn’t tell anyone at work. I was trying to accept it. A day or so later I was asked how my dad was doing? The days before I was working in the warehouse and on this day was the first they saw me. I told them he made his journey to heaven a few days before. The shocked looks. I couldn’t talk about it before then. Dad was to be creameted. With allowing enough time for all Ohio family and Florida to get time to come to Melbourne for a Memorial Mass for dad. So early May dad was given a beautiful Mass and had so many wonderful people to help celebrate his wonderful life. As for dads Angel. Auntie and sister said the night he passed it appeared again only this time the white cloud had gold trim and streamers dancing on the ceiling! It danced a good half an hour and went out the same window exit as it did times before. It was never seen again. That beautiful Angel was saying dad made it to heaven and not to worry he’s with God now.
I know this was to be the story about the two of you, but I thought that maybe if you heard about this story of mine you
Could understand that our dads would be okay after they leave us and this earth. It hurts so much to see them suffer and the thought of never seeing them again. And still wanted to tell and share so much with them. I’m praying so hard for you both. Asking God to give you the courage to help you’re dads and let them know when they are ready to go. It’s like they have to have someone’s permission to go to heaven. It will be one of the selfless gifts you can give them. When my mom passed mostly of a broken heart from loosing dad. She was with me in Ohio I softly told her it was time to go be with dad, he was waiting for her. Within 10 minutes she was gone. It’s so hard letting go, but you have to be the strong one and they won’t feel bad about leaving you and your family. I hope this helped and if I can do anything to ease the pain. Please contact me. I have a lot to say. Both of you, you’re fathers and families are in my prayers.

I’ve started writing a book about dads passing and how my mom died of a broken heart loosing her only true love. Take care. And just hold dads hand and let him know he’s loved so much and thank him for being the greatest father ever. And when he’s ready all will understand!
So take care and keep yourselves healthy many will probably come to depend on you for the strength. Mom especially!
