I thought it was great! The shots of the landscape, the writing. Although I’m not a book purist, I appreciate that they included certain lines from the book. Sam’s performance was awesome as well! For me, the icing on the cake was having Murtagh there to meet Brianna.
Agree the episode was right on…Loved Jamie’s meeting with Brianna..I have followed Outlander for over 20 yrs not offended by Murtagh it gives background to the Highland genocide….great writing!
#thebirdsandthebees was Brilliant! Acting and story so compelling! One of the Best ever.
I have yo say that when the writers of outlander stick to the books, the episode is overwhelming. (Sorry, English is not my language)
I loved this episode! I felt Caitriona’s performance when first seeing Bree and then during their discussion while gathering herbs is worthy of her Golden Globe nomination alone!
This was a wonderful episode. So emotional. My favorite scenes were when Brianna meets Jamie, they both made it feel so real, and the scene with Brianna and Claire in the wood harvesting greens near the river; spectacular. The scenery is gorgeous, the costumes are so interesting, the fabrics, the fur, and the hides. Kudos to the talented staff, writers, actors, photographers, set designers and all the rest. My favorite episode this season.
So, so many favorite parts, Sophie’s performance getting back to her room, so powerful. Sam’s show of pure love for his child throughout the show from meeting her, to seeing her smile in her sleep, to angry father in the end, wow. Caitriona is perfection at all times. Her scene’s just hit the mark of what you’d expect her to be as a mother and seeing her and Sam give us Jamie and Claire living life day to day is wonderful. Murtagh getting to meet Bree is such an extra treat. Thank you for keeping to the story, it’s so good as written and when kept as close to it as possible the show proves its the best on TV.
Wonderful! Loved it. Word for word from the book…. “You can call me Da.” I knew this would happen when Lizzy watched R&B through the window. Why did Roger bump into Furgus in town a during Wilmington? Bc he’s going to recognize him from a photo that one of them draws. Or something like that. Can’t wait for next week. I really love watching all of them together in the 18th century. I would love to hear dialogue with C and B about taking care of hygiene. I think they decided way back in S1 not to go there. It would definitely be something B and C would discuss first.
My favorite episode….I too liked the fact that the writers stayed true to the book’s dialogue. It was what I was hoping to see from the book. The icing was having Murtagh see his (hanai) granddaughter. The faces of all the adults were acted perfectly…..much kudos to the actors, writers, directing staff, costume staff and all those that made this wonderful adaptation….
Hi Shirl: Just an fyi: Murtaugh is Jamie’s Godfather, not Brianna’s Grandfather. I did look up the word “hanai” and agree that he “adopted” her as a grandfather might. Wonderful episode–when they stick to the Books, the episodes tend to flow best. Looking forward to the rest of the season

The adaption of Diana’s book do not disappoint. The acting in this episode was superb Sam really was Jamie in the acceptance of his daughter despite Brianna struggling with her feelings and loyalties to Frank! I was brought to tears when Sam compassionately welled up himself.
So good and close to the book!! I am so glad they did it this way–as always. So super, Sam and Sophie and Catriona!

This episode showed how Sam, Caitriona, Sophie and Roger are brilliant award winning actors. Jamie’s meeting his daughter, for the first time, was so heartwarming and emotional. Here he was, face to face, with the child he thought he would never know and would always wonder what she was like. This is the child he sent Claire back through the stones for (at the time of Culloden) so that Claire and the child would be safe. Sam and Sophie were superb. Absolutely loved Murtagh and Young Ian. Poor Roger – his situation is getting worse instead of better. The directing and writing of this episode was brilliant. Thank you for the best TV show ever!
