  1. One thing for sure, Aunt Jocasta is one tough woman and definitely a Mackenzie. Lots of changes from the book, but certainly had the essence of what a terrible time 18th century North Carolina was. Claire, Jamie, Young Ian and even Rollo have had a horrible time so far in the New World. Hope some of the future episodes are not so harrowing.

  2. Great adaptation of the book to TV💙💙! Love that the skunk scene was included along with the harsh realities of slavery in early our nation’s history. Bravo

  3. I liked Rollo finding the devil animal with black and white fur. A GREAT show.Z

  4. Great episode and wanted it to go on and on.
Rollo having a run in with stink bomb was so funny.
Condensing the book to TV brilliant.

  5. I loved the scenes with Claire and Jamie finding the man being strung up with a hook and they stopped the action. Claire’s compassion when the mob demanded he be handed over to them was enormous. I’m glad she spared him further humiliation and pain.

    • I agree with you Marge. It took a lot of bravery and courage on the part of Jamie and Claire in spite of the danger it posed for them and Aunt Jacoasta. The adaptation of the book, Drums of Autumn, to screen has been brilliant.

  6. Caitriona is such a fantastic actress. I felt my heart break when tears were rolling down her cheeks.

  7. I haven’t read any comments yet . this is my first reaction as a book reader. Why do the writers find it necessary to diminish who & what Jamie is.
He takes control i must say the events as depicted in the book shows this so much. in the show he was reduced to a weaker role following Claire’s lead Why this is not the first time the writers have weakened Jamie’s role . purely an emotional reaction sorry

  8. This episode was very powerful, authentic to the times in the New World, posing great challenges to Jamie and Claire. Aunt Jocasta was a very strong powerful person just, as Jamie and Claire are. Young Ian has started to stand up for his own convictions. It is hard to watch the brutality. The book Drums of Autumn went into that in more detail. Jamie and Claire are faced with difficult choices. This episode certainly was an emotional one. I am following Outlander, i feel it is still the best.
