*New* Lotte Verbeek Interview on the Master Class She’s Giving in Bonaire and Acting   1 comment

Here’s a new interview from Lotte Verbeek. It starts at the 25:49 mark and it’s in Dutch, however Lotte Verbeek fans have translated it for us.

Translation after the jump!

From Lotte Verbeek Fans

The introduction of the masterclass: Lotte Verbeek will be giving a masterclass on August 4 from 2pm till 4pm. The minimum age is 14+ and you don’t need experience in acting. The masterclass takes 2 hours and costs 40 dollars.

“Lotte, could you tell something about yourself?”

I’m an actress, for 10 years now. A nice thing is that Mieke and I have know each other from the dance academy that we both attended in Venlo (Netherlands). We both wanted to become dancers then. Mieke is now the owner of this dancing school and I became an actress and have been living in LA for the past 5 and a half years. I’m doing mostly American movies and TV shows; like Outlander, The Fault in our Stars and The Blacklist.  Now I’m finally able to visite Mieke, something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I always thought it wasn’t very far, but it’s an island which made it harder to get to. But I am here now for a week and Mieke offered that I give a masterclass in her dancing school! Mieke completely organised it and now it’s happening.

“What can we expect from the masterclass?”

The masterclass takes two hours, so I’m going to make sure that everyone who joins; that whether someone doesn’t have experience, has a little bit or quite a lot, that doesn’t matter to me. I’m going to make sure that everyone has a great experience! That you walk out of the door with the feeling like: “Wow, I feel free, I have the liberty to express myself.”  You don’t have to be ashamed if you do something that some might consider as ‘bad acting’. That’s not what this masterclass is about. It isn’t about good acting. It’s about feeling free and how you can express who you are. To me, that’s the main purpose of this masterclass.

“Many actors give up when things become hard in their career. What advice can you give to people who want to go into this world?”

Don’t give up. If you want to be an actor, you must carry through. I think it’s like with everything in life. Things don’t always come easy. But the moments it becomes hard, you have to believe in yourself. I believe it makes your character stronger and there you can achieve successes.
