  1. Bet Midshipman Pound is a member of the “Clean Plate Club,” too! At first, I thought Claire was being a little rough on a kid who wouldn’t know germs from gems…BUT then, I put myself back in the mind of a 1960’s-1970’s physician-mindset. Many I remember felt they sat at the right hand of God, believed they were never wrong, demanded respect that even nursing students had to open the doors for them or get in-trouble, raised Cain when things weren’t done right on hospital “floors” (i.e. “units”). So, yes. Caitriona/Claire WAS acting perfectly in-character for docs of those days! Even if Pound didn’t know about germs, a doc wouldn’t take that into account. Well done!

  3. Sorry for the repeat; seems to not be working right. WordPress can cancel my duplicate response above!

  4. Washing hands before and after wasn’t very common in those days. No wonder so much illness spread. Claire certainly had a job on her hands, not only to heal the sick but to always be watching that her assistants and helpers followed the rules too. Great video, thank you for sharing.
