Tobias Menzies is a fabulous actor. He is scary evil Black Jack with hatred in his eyes and face and is a husband pleading for his wife with love and expectation in his face and eyes and absolutely believable as both men. Excellent, just as Diana Gabaldon wrote in her books.
Agreed! Tobias Menzies had to have had one of the most challenging roles – the black hearted Jack Randall and then the desperate, caring husband as Frank.
Tobias has to be my favorite actor in Outlander. The two roles he had were so opposite of one another and he played them both so well.
Tobias Menzies is simply fabulous – I truly enjoy his performances in both roles – simple man.
I agree. A truly outstanding actor – Jack Randal and Frank Randal were total opposites and both roles were so deep. Tobias Menzies’s performance was so mesmerizing.
I do like Tobias Menzies, but I’ll be rather relieved to see him go. If his ‘Black Jack’ had to be a consistent presence in Jamie and Claire’s lives through all ten of the books, I don’t think I could stick with it.
Actually, Jack/Frank Randal was always there – Jamie wore the scars when Black Jack whipped him and Clare wore the gold wedding band given to her by Frank Randal well as the silver wedding band that Jamie gave her.
