IMPORTANT PSA About Hate – Please read   95 comments

Good morning everyone,

After yesterday we felt that we needed to address the issue that happened on Twitter. First of all let me tell you this, we have never nor will we ever tolerate disrespect, hate or any form of shade towards us, towards the cast, towards other people commenting on this site or on Facebook. This is not something new, this is something we have always done.

We are Canadian, we are American, we are Dutch, we are Czech we are Australian and we are British, if you attack one of us, you attack us all. No matter what happens in the world we will always stand up for those who can’t. This, yet again, is not something new. It’s something we have always done. Whether we do it through charity work with the site or whether it’s by tweeting information to people. If you were following us during the Paris attacks, the Nice attack, the Nepal earthquake, Hurricane Matthew and for those who have been following us through our other site, during the Haiti earthquake, the Japan Earthquake and other devastating events.  This is who we are and what we stand for.

This is our site, we are entitled to do and say what we want. We created this site. We are not paid to post, we barely make any money, if any at all from this website. Most of the time it costs us more to run it and do giveaways than the small amount we do make.  We post to keep you all updated and because we want to.

That being said, we have reached a zero tolerance policy after yesterday. We used to give people warnings. No more. If you tweet us hate, you will be blocked, if you post hateful messages on the website you will be IP banned, if you post hate on our Facebook you will be blocked. We won’t give you a warning like we previously did. We’ve had enough and since this is our website we are allowed to do so. The same applies if you reply to others with hateful messages or if you are hateful towards the actors.

We have been doing this for more than 8 years and this is the first time we’ve dealt with this level of disrespect and hate. I am disgusted at some of the tweets we received yesterday.

We are not Outlander STARZ, we have never pretended to be Outlander STARZ, it’s right there in our bio and yes Outlander STARZ knows about our website as they follow us on Twitter and we also have contacts there. All the opinions we state are ours and ours alone. We are a fansite, not the official STARZ website.

We will never stop fighting for what we believe in. We will never stop helping others no matter what. We will never be quiet.

If any of you are wondering who you were talking to last night, it was me, Marie (FPontheDL), the owner of this site and I’m Canadian.

Marie, B, Sim, Paige, Jan and Zoe

  9. Thank you!

  10. I have no idea what went on and don’t want to. I would like to give my respect to your excellent and dignified response. I thoroughly enjoy this site and look forward to the posts. Long may it continue. Thank you for your efforts

    • I have no idea what happened or what was said, I appreciate all the work that goes into this site and thank you for your efforts. I wholeheartedly agree with zero tolerance for hate. no excuse for it.

    • Ditto. Thanks for the strong and what should be normal response of any human being. Sad that it isn’t.

  11. Bravo!!!

  12. I don’t know what happened yesterday, but I love your site and your actions, so thank you for all your hard work from France !

  13. No idea what happened either, but your response to same was perfect. I love this site and would not like to see it spoiled by hate.

  14. Perfection! The world will remain violent & unjust until love, tolerance, compassion & acceptance of all human differences is unanimous. If you don’t have something nice to say, say nothing!

  15. Thank you for your much needed words. I love all things Outlander and love reading people’s thoughts. I have such respect for the actors and donate to their charities. They are good ones.

  16. Good for you!!! I love your site and am very thankful for it!

    Linda

  17. You are the best. There’s enough hate in this world..thanks for speaking out. I have the utmost respect for you and all you do. Running these sites is not easy. Thank you and B, Sim, Paige, Jan and Zoe, for your hard work. Love you all.

  18. I don’t know what kind of things were said (I’m actually glad I don’t use twitter). But perusing other places where public comments are allowed, I’m always shocked by the hate, anger and ugliness of some people. Good for you for making a stand against the haters and the bullies. I so very much enjoy Outlander-Online! Thank you!

  19. Sounds perfect to me. This is my go to for all things Outlander. Keep up the great work.

  20. I too don’t know what happened yesterday, but I can only imagine it must have been profane. Grateful for all of your efforts and love of Outlander. Life is too short to allow hateful energy into our lives

  21. Agree. Kindness never wears thin…

  22. I am not sure what went on yesterday as I very rarely follow any Twitter because I think it has become a very bad way of communicating. I am glad to see this post and hope that all the hate and disrespect in this world will stop but I know that’s a lot to wish for.

  23. Bravo! !

  24. I didn’t see ant of the tweets in question but you are absolutely right in you response. Thank you for all your hard work. It is much appreciated. X

  25. I applaud you for taking this stand. I don’t know what comments were made but I respect your response. Bravo!

  26. I’m not sure of what was said yesterday. I have a twitter account, but never really have used it. I think your very right on what your doing. I have read what some people have said and it’s disgusting. I was not raised to even think of saying such things. I’m not part of the women’s movement nor would ever consider it. As a woman, I was very fortunate to have been raised by a woman that was strong.
Thank you for having this sight so we can keep up with our beautiful story’s of Outlander!!!

  27. Thank you for saying what needs to be said. I am always shocked, saddened and disheartened by the negative comments I see on the internet. Why can’t everyone express their feelings without being hateful? I thank you for what you do as I love Outlander, the actors, the staff and the causes and charities for which they stand! Thank you!

  28. Thank you! In these turbulent times, I look to Outlander as my escape, and websites like this as a hate-free, safe zone. Again, thank you for your statement.

  29. Well written, thank you! I too missed The Twitter exchange and am grateful.

  30. You know how I feel about you all!💙

  31. Can we just keep it light on this site? There are so many other sites to express your opinion that on. Please remember that basis of this wonderful series is about freedom and family.

  32. I love to read your information and like to follow you around, hopefully people will learn that hate doesn’t bring them happiness, only sadness and sorrow.
Keep up you generous work to all the people of the crew, love the show. Been reading Diana’s book since 1992, so nearly from the start Cross stitch came out I fell in love with the story and since have been reading all. While we were in Scotland I think about 5 years now, the lady in the shop in Falkland told us the were going to film her shop next year by a big American company,
When asked it was Outlander, my outlander feeling started to blossom.
And I must say hats of for all the actors who have been in the series and will come next.
Good choices for all of them.
Love the books and the series.

  33. Bellisimo!! From a fellow Canadian and sister.

  34. Bravo.

  35. Thank you, I am proud to be a part of this group.

  36. I don’t know what the tweets were either but apparently I don’t want to know. I am tired of entitled bullies.

This does, however, call to my attention my need to express my appreciation for the work you are doing for this Outlander fan. Just this morning I was thinking about another application I want to write; perhaps later today.

    Many thousand thanks.

  37. ´Precisely – and very well put! I believe it was here, that I wrote my first comment about the extreme behaviour of some Outlander fans and the extreme measures they were willing to take. This unfortunately only answers my fears. Hopefully the measures you listed will succeed in controlling the ‘disease’.

  38. Not got a clue about what’s gone on and don’t want to either. Of course we all have different opinions and that’s fine, what’s not ok is being hateful and nasty to each other, if you don’t agree with someone else’s opinion or beliefs, then just simply move on. There is enough hatred in this world as it is, without us spreading more. We are a family, a clan and we should be supporting each other. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, you do an amazing job and I, for one, am extremely grateful and proud of this group.

  40. Proud of you and your message. I spent the day Saturday marching in Dallas surrounded by energy and love. And to come home to read that you and this wonderful website that I love and depend on was disrespected literally took the air out of my sail. I’m sorry people can be vile and petty. We need each other. Bullying is dangerous, ugly and in some cases even worse. Thank you for keeping it real. Thank you for you.

  41. Good afternoon: I'm not sure why I received this email.  I would never never be disrespectful to anyone.  I don't recall making such a remark.  Would you kindly let me know what this is about?  I am a little upset about this email.  I don't have a clue why I've received this email. Danielle Levasseur

    DANIELLE LEVASSEUR
    • It’s probably because you’re signed up to receive emails from the site. Has nothing to do with you, it was a general post we made. Sorry it upset you.

  42. Right On!

  43. Goodness! I don’t know what happened, but it sounds awful! I’m sorry it was necessary to post this PSA. I love Outlander and everybody associated with it. I find them all to be kind and generous. Ditto most of the fans. Nevertheless, sometimes you do have to put your foot down when people don’t know how to behave. Good for you for doing so! I hope you’ll continue to share your Outlander knowledge. I very much enjoy your posts & pics. Thanks so much!

  44. Thank God for the courage you have shown against evil ppl .. Standing up is the only way to knock them down!! Kudos brothers and sisters and God Bless.😇💖😇

  45. thank you and well said

  46. Thank you for producing a hate-free (and hopefully wrangle-free) zone on the Internet for OL fans ❤️

  47. I don’t know what happened.But theirs no room for hate.Anytime !

  48. I have not thanked you for all the posts yoy send us. So sorry to read about the hate mail/ comments. I’m grateful for all the time, effort and hard work you put into, giving us everything that is Outlander. Ps love your pic caption 😜

  49. I don’t know, either…social media is of no interest to me. Outlander IS, fictional as it is, Sam H. and Cait B. along with other cast members are wonderful to watch become their characters–sometimes too well !! — so I appreciate everything I’ve received since joining this site. So sorry, whatever it was. Your site is excellent.

  50. I don’t know what happened. I know that I have enjoyed this site since the first day I have received it. I look forward to receiving your posts and will continue to as long as you let me. Keep up the wonderful work that you do !!

  51. Thank you for all you do. I also missed the hateful messages and I appreciate that you removed them. Please keep up the wonderful work.

  52. Thank you also for what you do. Glad I missed the hateful drama. I always look forward to your posts.

  53. I too am glad to hear that you will block disrespectful posts. I love this site and always enjoy the pictures and other things shared here. I don’t have Twitter so have no idea what happened but, earlier in the week after the Instagram post by Sam and Cait about the Emerald City Comicom someone wrote the most rude, obnoxious, and what sounded like jealously post about Sam and a supposedly “girlfriend ” and TSP/Sony letting him use them. I don’t know it was shocking in it’s negativity. I thought perhaps you pulled that post as well, as it has no business here. We who subscribe enjoy the site and I certainly agree there is no place for it here.

  54. I don’t know what the comments were the precipitated this action, but good for you! I think this is the action that should always be taken, on any site! Thanks for doing this!

  55. I have no clue as to what happened or is going on. I don’t want to bury my head in the sand but I do know that there are a lot of people in this world that are full of hatred and closed hearts and minds. They don’t take the time to remember that these books are works of fiction with some reality. So they pick out the one thing that irks them so because it’s against their faith. That being said they shouldn’t have read the books or watched the series as the books are quite explicit and the series does not hold back.

What you said FP was done with elegance and dignity and I will stand by your side in this matter. Your site has been an inspiration to all of those who truly love the series, the wardrobe, the lifestyles of the times and the knowledge from which we as human beings should learn.

  56. Perfect.

  57. Well done. It’s why I don’t really post/respond or do much of anything on Twitter. It’s an angry place, and those that try to make it fun and happy, are still brought down by others.

  58. Thank you, well done, and about time too!

  59. Not sure about what happened yesterday but can guess andsorry it’s still happening. Just wanted to thank you for what you are doing for Outlander the show and the fans.

  60. And just because of this statement, I’d like to say hats off to all of you for making a stand I’ll be checking your website & donate

  61. I love to read your posts. I really do and while I loved reading your postings yesterday there are many fans who have a different political view. And I think we need to respect that. I marched in DC yesterday with 1 million other women but Outlander fans are diverse in their views. The comments from other fans (maybe one or two) were abusive but maybe they felt that this was not the place for political postings since it is an Outlander fan site. This is just my opinion but we are so divided right now that I think it’s important to listen to why people feel the way they do no matter how much you might disagree. Thanks for the opportunity to give my oppinion.

  62. So we’ll put…yesterday should have been all about freedom of speech within the context of MOVING FORWARD IN A MOST POSITIVE VENUE. Verbal platforms built on negative speech & alliances has become rhetorical & dimuit I’ve
Let us all look forward but keep our past teachings of life to guide us in the most possible way…Hats off to you for being strong in setting the necessary boundaries
Tansi from my First Nation heritage..Cheers..Sla’inte

  63. Thank you for all you do and for taking a strong stand against hate.. I continue to be shocked and saddened at what I see on social media.

  64. God bless you for all the work you do!

  65. Well done. I wish everyone would speak out as you did. Too many people use social media to spew out their hate that they would never do in a face to face situation. Technology has come a long way, but sometimes I wonder if Social Media is such a good thing after all.!

  66. Lovely!! Well-said. There is no room for hate

  67. i have no idea what happened i believe i would like to not know i guess i have a twitter account but don’t check all that often Prejudice and Hate have no place in our world ! i am so happy to be a member of Outlander Online

  68. Bravo!!!!!! I support you1000% So sick of all the hateful and nasty people out there!!!

  69. Thanks for making a stand for civility and truth.

  70. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻❤❤❤❤❤❤ You go, girl!!! Zero tolerance for hate talk! Irene Dunne summed it up well “If we don’t stand for something, we’ll fall for anything. Thanks for standing for right and truth and live. Can’t risk doing/being anything else in these times! xoxo #respect

  71. Brilliant! Thank you and much love from Minnesota.

  72. I’m grateful I didn’t read the hate. I appreciate so much everything you do, all your hard work and all your efforts for us. You’ve done a magnificent job. Thank you for being a place of kindness and respect. We’re all behind you. More love from Minnesota.

  73. I don’t know what’s happened to this world, or where people think they can say anything they want to, without censorship. In America, our Patriots (both men and women) gave us freedom of speech, but with that goes civility, good taste and manners. I see a world out of control, yet we have wonderful sites on the Web such as yours, that brings a peace and harmony within a realm of commonality, where we all enjoy a common venue. I have been a book lover and follower since Diana’s first publication– All of you do such a wonderful job bringing our characters to us, and I am sure it takes much time and effort. Thank you. I am sorry that some people cannot appreciate the joy this gives us, and they should channel their anger to appropriate venues to sound off. One of the best parts of this site is that I can read comments that differ from my own, and appreciate other’s views, as items are written with respect.

  74. Thank you so much for not being a platform for their hate. It’s a strong moral message of respect.

  75. There has been a marked increase in hate messages across the board on the internet. It’s sickening. I was hacked and found that “I” had sent hate filled messages to one of my favorite actors…he blocked me. Now there is no way to repair the damage caused by my hacker(s). I feel like I’m a political football being thrown around the internet now. It’s mortifying. I believe your honest, to the point approach is the best one can do in the face of this sort of stuff. No joke, I feel your pain and frustration.

  76. I always remember that the word fan comes from the word fanatics, who can be positive fans or over the top “fanatixs@ in the truest sense of the word. Just carry on. I love your posts and your page.

  77. Thankyou for taking this stance!! So tired of the nasty negativity social media gets in to. Now I know this site is a great one. 👏👏👏💖

  78. Thank you for your stance against bullies, Bullying is Public Health issues here in the USA. We try to prevent it in schools and other places, but have problems with adults who feel they can do these things. Bravo for taking a stand

  79. So glad you reposted your January message. It is well-written and definitely gets the point across without beIng rude. Bullying should not be tolerated anywhere. Unfortunately, the Internet is the perfect place for bullies because they can “say” what they want and remain anonymous. The only ways to stop them are to ignore them, delete their posts and block them.

  80. We are united!!

    Elizabeth Graziano
  81. I really don’t know what happened either; but you have a great website and I enjoy it very much. There will always be mean, negative people so whatever happened, you are doing the right thing..so just keep doing what you are doing for the test of the people that do love and enjoy what you do…much love to you & your family 👏🏻👏🏻😘❤️❤️❤️

  82. Thank you and very well said. Please know that we are all very very grateful for all your hard work. I enjoy this site very much and I know I’m not alone. You are THE BEST!!!

  83. Don’t know what was said, but I support your position! No hate! 💙🗡🐴

  84. Well said and thank you for not alliwing this

    Elizabeth A Weging
  85. This is the first I’ve read of this. I am so happy to see a group/organization taking a strong and immediate ‘no tolerance’ policy on hate. Cheers! Hopefully, others will follow.

  86. What is wrong with people. Why don’t they spend that energy helping instead of hating. Visit the animal shelters, the hospitals, the old and lonely….do something worthwhile with your time.

  87. Thank you for taking stand against the hate speech….I don’t know what was said, but it doesn’t matter…you stopped it and you’re right…there is no place for hate…it’s sad that it seems to be becoming more and more rampant…
