From Gold Derby:

“They always say the holy grail of television is women viewers,” notes “Outlander” executive producer Maril Davis, who has helped mount one of TV’s most fascinating shows. “Our history — me and Ronald D. Moore — is doing things with strong female characters.

More after the jump!

This is no exception, and I think that’s what drew me to the book in the first place.” Davis was at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills earlier this month, where she joined many of the cast and creators in celebrating “The Artistry of Outlander” exhibit. Watch our red carpet interview below.

Also in our chat, Davis explains how much work it is to mount a production of this size in which most of the sets are constructed specifically for the show. “When you don’t have a show with standing sets, which are sets you can constantly go back to, it’s very tough on the production. People wonder, ‘Why don’t we do more episodes? Why can’t we get 26 episodes, because the books are so huge.’ We would be dead!”

Others on the red carpet included stars Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan, costume designer Terry Dresbach, production designer Jon Gary Steele and fellow executive producer Moore. The private event featured a special exhibit preview of the extravagant costumes and set designs, a cocktail reception, unveiling, and panel discussion.
