Claire’s red dress from Outlander this season may have left everyone speechless, but her dressage gown in the May 7 episode holds a special place in the heart of the drama’s costume designer.

Terry Dresbach told EW that Claire’s “one-of-a-kind” layered gown that she wears to a Paris stable was made of a pink, yellow and plum silk/wool blend fabric that she found in a San Francisco shop. But it wasn’t the material that made the costume so memorable; it was what happened when she and her husband/showrunner Ronald D. Moore were looking to buy it.
