Here is a new interview with Caitriona Balfe from USA Today

Outlander Season 2 2016

There’s a lot to love about Starz’s hit Outlander, an 18-century romance about a time-traveling World War II nurse.

Not only is it ultra-feminist with a strong-willed, sexually empowered protagonist in Claire Randall (Balfe), but it also has some of the most sumptuous sets and costumes of any TV series right now. Season 2 has given costume designer Terry Dresbach an even greater opportunity to run wild, as Claire and new husband Jamie (Sam Heughan) relocated from the Scottish highlands to Parisian high society, in an attempt to quash a rebellion.

Viewers will surely remember Claire’s plunging red gown, in particular: a fan favorite fromDiana Gabaldon’s novels that is brought to stunning life in this season’s second episode, as our heroine attends a ball at the king’s palace. Fortunately, it wasn’t quite as uncomfortable as it looks, Balfe reassures USA TODAY.

“It’s a beautiful dress and such a fan moment in the books. Jamie has to say, ‘You can see all the way down to your third rib,’ and it had to fulfill all these different things, so Terry did such an incredible job with it. But walking anywhere, I had to do this kind of sideways crab walk. It was like, ‘Wide load, coming through!’ I thought all that I was missing was the, ‘Beep! Beep! Beep!’ that these massive trucks had.”
