Outlander star Sam Heughan partners with Bloodwise to raise money for new treatments into blood cancer

Sam Heughan, Bloodwise celebrity supporter and star of the hit show Outlander – which returns to Amazon Prime Video weekly from Sunday 10th April – filmed and largely set in Scotland, launched the initiative by wearing a bright red tartan scarf, and encouraging people to use the hashtag #TartanTuesday when tweeting pictures of themselves wearing tartan on Tuesdays. Sam has supported Bloodwise for a number of years, most recently with his fundraising- fitness initiative, “My Peak Challenge” which, since its inception in 2015, has raised nearly £200,000 for the charity.
Outlander star Sam Heughan says, “It’s really important to raise awareness as blood cancer is the fifth most common cancer and affects people of all ages. I hope people enjoy a month of TartanTuesday, have fun with it, and that we raise as much money and awareness as possible. I look forward to seeing everyone’s pictures on Twitter!”
Cathy Gilman, Chief Executive of Bloodwise, says, “Sam’s dedication to Bloodwise over the years has been absolutely fantastic and we are proud that he has once again chosen to support our charity by fronting #TartanTuesday.
“We are looking forward to working with Amazon UK on this great initiative which we hope will raise vital funds and awareness to enable us to improve the lives of even more patients.”
Bloodwise has a strong presence in Scotland, with over £6million currently invested in blood cancer research projects at Glasgow and Edinburgh Universities.

Here’s a new Sam Heughan interview from TV Week
From TV Week:
The wait is finally over! Jamie Fraser will once again be gracing our screens and this time he’s tackling fatherhood in season two of Outlander.
“I hope it’s Jamie’s child – imagine if it wasn’t!” portrayer Sam Heughan laughs when he sits down with TV WEEK.
“It is Jamie’s child. But, as we know, the course of Outlander is never smooth.”
So, how does he measure up as a dad?
“I think he’s extremely excited to be a father,” Sam, 35, says. “That’s his dream – to have a simple life with a big family.”
As for the actor himself, playing a dad on screen has made him think about starting his own family.
“I think you’ve got to when you approach these subjects,” he explains. “You’ve got to think how you would be yourself and what your stance on it is. [Parenthood] is definitely something I want to do.”
