The show’s star Caitriona Balfe broke down some of the key moments from the episode, which she notes set up a complicated tangle for Claire, her modern-day husband Frank, and her young Scottish husband, Jamie.
Those familiar with Diana Gabaldon’s book series know that Claire leaps ahead two centuries in the second instalment. But she leaps ahead to the 1960s — not 1948, where things pick up in the TV series.
“We play around with the timeline a little in the beginning,” Balfe allows.
