New Ron D. Moore, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe Interview with THR   3 comments

New Ron D. Moore, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe interview with THR

outlander_still

From THR:

Because Dragonfly in Amber, the book on which season two is based, is so different in both setting and plot, Outlanderexecutive producer Ronald D. Moore faced a daunting task in adapting it knowing that some viewers won’t be aware of the tonal shift going into the season.

“It was a big challenge,” Moore tells The Hollywood Reporter. “It was a tougher book to adapt than the first book was, because it’s more complex, it shifts time periods, it shifts point of view several times, it goes from Paris then back to Scotland, it’s half in political conspiracy, who can you trust kind of story, then it’s half a war story. It was a much bigger challenge to adapt that and figure out what kind of changes we were going to make and how to make it penetrable to an audience who has not read it.”

Here’s a new interview of Sam Heughan with Radio Times

From Radio Times:

Heughan hasn’t let the power he wields over a legion of Outlander loving lads and lassies go to his head though. In fact, he seems humbled by his new found fame.

“It’s something you dream about, working in Scotland, working in Glasgow, walking down the same streets I used to walk down when I was a drama student, daydreaming about being in an American TV show or doing something that was well known. I guess I sort of pinch myself,” says Heughan.

New Sam Heughan Interview with Inquirer.net   3 comments

Here’s a new Sam Heughan interview with Inquirer.net

From Inquirer:

This season is quite a departure from the last one. Can you talk about the new challenges for you as an actor?

Paris was, for us, a new venture. It’s a new world not only for us as actors, but also as the characters. It’s uneven ground and a new adventure. The politics and the costumes, of course, were very different.

The relationship that Jamie and Claire have is put under a lot of strain, and not only by the fact that James is still suffering from a trauma (being raped and tortured by his nemesis Black Jack Randall, played by Tobias Menzies) in Season One, but also neither of the characters are being themselves.

Jamie, in my mind, was kind of half that man that he was. He’s been deceitful, manipulative and disloyal. These are characteristics that don’t sit well with him.

Up until now, we have seen him be very straightforward, honorable and honest. So, he’s now in a very poisonous place. That poison seeps into their (Jamie and Claire’s) relationship.

New Caitriona Balfe Interview with Parade   3 comments

From Parade:

Claire may be feeling quite frustrated at court, but she looks marvelous while there. The costumes in Season 2 are magnificent and costume designer Terry Dresbach has done herself proud. Each gown that Claire wears is more elegant than the previous one, and the designs truly capture the feel of Louis’ court.

“There is a reason why women do not wear corsets and massive gowns like that anymore,” Balfe answers when asked if wearing them was difficult. “The red dress was gorgeous, but I had to perfect the art of walking sideways because it was 4-feet 2-inches wide.  I probably wouldn’t be able to get through a door. It’s funny, the character and I had a similar journey with those costumes, because, I think, in the beginning it was so fun to let Claire explore her femininity and have this moment where she could be luxurious and play around with design and costumes. And for me, obviously, they’re each so beautiful that it was really fun in the beginning to have these beautiful new clothes to wear, but they’re not comfortable, and when you’re in them for 13 hours of the day, it takes a toll.”
