There are only two episodes left of “Outlander” Season 1, and Starz isn’t keeping it a secret that Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire’s (Caitriona Balfe) journey ends in a dark place. With Black Jack Randall (Tobias Menzies) returning and Claire going to save her husband from Fort William, things are guaranteed to get worse before they get better.

“Outlander” book readers know the climax of Season 1 is going to shock a lot of people, but showrunner Ron Moore thinks that should get everyone excited. Getting the rest of Claire and Jamie’s Season 1 journey right is pivotal to “Outlander’s” continued success, and the cast and production staff involved took the challenge seriously.

“The last two episodes really go to some dark places, some deep psychological places. Going into the project, we all knew that’s going to be a big deal and we have to really figure out how we’re going to handle that,” Moore tells Zap2it. “It took a lot of work. I’m very proud of the actors, who were fearless in their performances and they worked well with the director. The set design was spot-on, and costume  — all the technical elements were there.”
