Laoghaire (Nell Hudson) totally threw Claire (Caitriona Balfe) under the metaphoric bus in April 11’s episode of“Outlander.” In the final moments of episode 10, the new wife of Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) is arrested for witchcraft, and it’s Laoghaire who tricked Claire into being at the right place at the right time.In 18th century Scotland, a witchcraft sentence is pretty much a death sentence. But Hudson doesn’t think her character should feel guilty over getting Claire arrested.“Laoghaire has sort of convinced herself that Claire probably might be a witch,” she explains to Zap2it. “Like, no one knows where she’s come from, what her whole deal is, why she knows so much about medicine. I feel quite justified. It sounds quite dramatic right now; like, ‘She’s a witch, let’s kill her.’ But that was kind of practiced back then.”Of course, there’s some pettiness in there too. Laoghaire has loved Jamie since she was a kid, and now this new weird English lady swept him off his feet. “Having your heart broken, you’d kill someone, I reckon,” Hudson says. “Totally justifiable.”
