As I recall from interviews with Caitriona, this was the coldest and most physically miserable for her of all the shoots save those in her “shift.” You can see the rain on them both as you watch this in Episode 8. So much for a picnic. 🙂
That’s exactly what I thought. They looked so miserable in this scene that I had a hard time paying attention to the dialogue. I just wanted to bundle them up in blankets and hand them some warm soup. 🙂 I wish they would have at least put a canopy over them out of view of the camera.
I so very much envy the photographer. In my mind (I am a photographer) the very best crew job is set photographer and some lucky duck has that job and shot this wonderful picture of our poor frozen soggy Jamie.. what grand professionals this cast and crew are.

Interesting that scene was being filmed April 30.. so they ended filming the first half about that time, giving them May – Sept to film second half of first book… minus time off in August to go to CA for Comic-Con San Diego and publicity interviews..
That was Sam’s birthday too. Diana said the actor who plays Hugh Munro started singing “Happy Birthday” to him in the middle of filming this scene and Sam got confused until the rest of the crew joined in and started singing. I would love to see moments like that…maybe for the DVDs? 😉
